January 31, 2019 6:30PM

The government shutdown has impacted over 800,000 federal employees and their families across the United States. Many of those affected live in the District, Maryland, Virginia and are brothers of the Craft. As you know, one of the principles of our fraternity is charity and to assist those, especially brother Masons, who need assistance. It is in that spirit that we invite you to join us for our first Masonic Family Dinner, sponsored by the Masonic and Eastern Star Home (MESH).

The dinner will be held on Thursday, January 31st at the D.C. Scottish Rite.(Starting at 6:30 pm) The event is open to all Masons, their family, and the greater masonic community. We strongly encourage all federal employees impacted to join us as we will be offering additional meals and grocery cards to take home. There is no cost to the event but we encourage you, or your lodge, to consider making a donation toward this and other Family Dinners.

While the shutdown appears to be over for the time being, we know the last month has had a significant impact on federal workers and the economy, which may be felt for some time. It will likely take several more days or perhaps a week for things to return to normal. This is our moment to assist those during the last leg of the shutdown.

To ensure we have enough food and supplies, please RSVP to the dinner here. Those interested in making a donation towards the event may do so by check, to Masonic and Eastern Star Home (MESH). Checks may be mailed  to the address below or deposited at the dinner.
