Quite a few Brethren across the DC area are being impacted by the current government shutdown.  Some are working without pay, some are not being allowed to work, others are contractors that will probably never be paid.

As an informal way to show our appreciation, help out and commiserate, Naval Lodge No. 4 is having a Shutdown Potluck Dinner on Sunday, January 13th at Naval Lodge, assuming we are still shutdown as of Friday, January 11th.

All Masons are welcome and they can bring their whole family. Dress is casual as this is a casual event.

The rules are:

  • Folks impacted by the shutdown can bring anything they want or nothing at all.
  • Folks whose jobs aren't impacted should bring a hearty side dish. (Examples: Mac & cheese, potato salad, green bean casserole)
  • Capitol Hill and White House staff (of all parties) have to bring a main course protein. (Examples: Brisket, fried chicken, veggie lasagna)

This is NOT a cooking competition and stuff can be bought at the store or made or whatever is convenient.

Please RSVP so we know how many to expect. You can leave a comment to let us know what you're bringing.

As always at lodge, NO POLITICS, this is an informal, cheerful, bonding activity.  Come, share, and enjoy.
